Tell me what I should do
I'm currently working at both Carpets Plus and with my dad intstalling flooring. Last night I was hanging out in Appel Oil with my mom when she mentioned that Hansen Motors has a job opening for detailing cars. Since I'm going into into automotive, I figure that this would be a good start to get into the business. But I have two problems, one being my dad and the other being Steve Gunkel, my boss at Carpets Plus. I like working with both of them and I consider both of them my friends and I would hate having to stop working for them, but I'm not getting anywhere laying flooring and working in a carpet store when I'm trying to get into the automotive business. This could be my chance to get started working on cars, but I'm having a tough time leaving my dad and Steve. What would you do?

January Book Review
The main character in the novel Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway is an old cuban fisherman named Santiago. Santiago is old but still strong. He has evidence of skin cancer on his face from the lack of shade on the ocean.
Santiago is very respectful of the fish he kills and often finds himself feeling sorry for them. He also shows a lot of care toward the boy in the novel.
Santiago's motivation in the novel is the need for money and food. He rows out farther than any of the other fisherman because he knows where there are fish.
Santiago comes across many conflicts in the story, the hardest being trying to bring in the fish he has hooked. It took hime three days to kill it. On the way back, his catch is attacked by sharks. He attempts to fight them off, but by the time he gets back to shore, the meat is stripped from the bones of the fish.
He doesn't go through any changes in the story. He is just the same as he was at the end of the story as he is at the beggining.
I didn't have any personal connection with Santiago.
Santiago is a very effective character in the story because he is the person that the story is written around. The story is written around facing hardships and getting past them. Santiago does this throughout the story.

November Book Review - Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison, is a story an unnamed black man who is trying to find a meaning in his life. Throughout the story he is expelled from from college, works for a paint factory, and becomes a great speaker for an organization called the Brotherhood. He is often betrayed by people who he believes are his friends.
I found the book enjoyable to read, though I did find that it was somewhat fastpaced. If the reader hurrys through the book too fast, it can be difficult to understand. I sometimes found myself backtracking to try and get my facts straight. I would recomend this book for patient readers, who have time to sit down and really try to understand the meaning of the book.
What I like about the book is that is explains life the way it really is. Life is rough, it's as simple as that. The main character in the book discovers this the hard way, as he is faced with the problems of race and betrayal, which cause him to eventually find a life in the underground, living in reality but not in the minds of other people, which makes him an "invisible man".

The Crucible, McCarthyism and other Witch Hunts
1. What was Millers point in writing the crucible?
http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/09/19/011753.php
The information on this site is actually from a person's blog who did an assignment similar to what we are doing now. According to the author of this report, Miller wrote the crucible to show that history was repeating itself during The Red Scare.
2. How are McCarthyism, The Red Scare, Arthur Miller and The Crucible interrelated?

I found a better website!
This site gives an accurate description between the Red Scare and The Crucible. It describes similare traits among the two and it also shows that history repeats itself.
3. Other times when "witch hunts" were conducted?

This website describes the americanization of Native Americans.
Other "witch hunts":
Mexicans
Gays
Blacks
Terrorists
Religions
